The Governor’s Academy hosts students of all backgrounds, all equipped with knowledge and rationality to defend their standpoints.
However, we lack a channel to share these opinions and initiate thought-provoking conversations.
According to an all school survey, although 75% of the respondents expressed a desire to learn about their peers’ political opinions, 70% feel like their beliefs are not actively or entirely heard in the Academy, and 73.8% feel like certain opinions are not expressed in fear of being “canceled”.
In layman’s terms, there is a hidden and silent audience that may want to change the status quo and openly engage in these conversations.
Therefore, we founded govsvoice.com in December of 2021, an online Op-Ed style website where students can submit and share articles on politics or school events. Although every article will be proofread by our team, authors may choose to remain anonymous.
